Future Creators 2023 Report

Spring 2023, Strategic Foresight Publication created by the NEXT Innovation Scholars

︎Overview: The Future Creators 2023 Report is the first volume of what is to become an annual publication researched and compiled by the NEXT Innovation Scholars. The report groups  trends of today into driving forces, or drivers, that will shape the world of tomorrow. 
︎Objectives:
  • Research and identify emerging trends
  • Group trends into a driving forces, aka drivers
  • Create artifcats that help further flesh out what a possible future would look like if these trends continue

︎What is Strategic Foresight: Predicting the future is impossible, but that is the not goal of strategic foresight. Rather, strategic foresight is the practice of analyzing budding trends and fringe markets in order to imagine not the future, but possible futures. By imagining what the worst and best tomorrow would look, we can then make actionable recommendations to achieve that best future. 











︎Artifact Creation: The last step in strategic foresight, and also the last part of the report, is artifact creation. In strategic foresight artifacts are imaginary products, ads, or media taken from a possible future. To the right is a short-story I wrote as part of our You (Plural) driver. The artifacts are meant to help the reader not just see possible future as a list of characteristics, but imagine how people would actually live in them.
